MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – As many as 84% of Belarusians say they are proud of present-day Belarus. The relevant opinion survey was conducted by the Information and Analysis Center of the Belarus President Administration, BelTA has learned.
Most respondents (55%) said they are proud of the Belarusian nation. Around 40% of people take pride in the nature of the country and as many are happy about the Belarusian culture. The historical heritage and sports achievements are a source of pride for 33% of Belarusians.
The Armed Forces of Belarus, political success, and modern achievements in healthcare, science, and education give almost every fifth Belarusian citizen reason for pride. As many as 13% of the respondents said they are proud of Belarus’ economic growth.
Partaking in the opinion survey were residents of all the oblast capitals, the city of Minsk, and some Belarusian towns and villages. The survey was conducted from 5 through 15 June 2015. It relied on multistage and stratified random sampling. The sample size was 1,000 respondents aged over 18.
