MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – The play Hamlet has brought bronze to the Mogilev Oblast Puppet Theater at the Second Youth Theater Forum of the CIS countries, Baltic states and Georgia, BelTA learned at the awards ceremony held on 26 November.
Receiving the bronze umbrella statuette, Igor Kazakov, the producer of the two-set William Shakespeare play, thanked the judges for a high assessment of his work and noted that this success would give stimulus to new scenic discoveries.
The panel of judges led by well-known Russian producer, Honored Figure of Arts of Russia Grigory Kozlov presented the silver figurine to Stanislav Zhirkov’s People’s Love (after Dmitry Bogoslavsky’s play) staged by the Kiev Academic Youth Theater (Ukraine).
Gold went to Renate Keerd’s Pure Mind (Nii company and New Theater, Tartu, Estonia).
The jury’s special awards went to Belarusian playwright Dmitry Bogoslavsky for his versatile theater talents and actress Mariam Ghazanchyan for the best female role (A Taste of Honey, Yerevan State Youth Theater). The Best Actor award went to Kirill Imenov for his performance in Cloud-Paradise by Savin Drama Theater, Lysva, Russia.
Young critics named Data Tavadze’s Women of Troy (Royal District Theater, Tbilisi, Georgia) the best play.
The Youth Theater Forum of the CIS countries, Baltic states and Georgia was developed as a project to feature the best works of young producers (aged 35 and under) in the post-Soviet space.
Competing for the awards of the forum were theaters from 13 countries: Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Estonia.
The events of the forum were hosted by the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater, the Maxim Gorky National Academic Drama Theater, the National Belarusian Drama Theater, and the Belarusian Youth Theater.
The Second Youth Theater Forum of the CIS countries, Baltic states and Georgia, held in Minsk on 19-26 November, was organized in line with the decision of the International Confederation of Theater Associations, the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, and the Belarusian Culture Ministry. Among the organizers also were the Minsk City Hall and the National Belarusian Drama Theater.
