Minsk to host Japanese Cinema Week
MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Week of Modern Japanese Cinema will kick off in the Belarusian capital at the Pobeda cinema house on 10 March, BelTA learned from the film distribution company Kinovideoprokat of the Minsk City Hall.
The festival will open with drama film Homeland directed by Nao Kubota. The film is set in the exclusion zone of Fukushima Prefecture struck by a tsunami and a nuclear plant accident.
On 11 March, the Pobeda cinema house will screen Ryoichi Kimizuka’s Reunion. The film also depicts the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Nobuhiko Obayashi’s Casting Blossoms to the Sky about wars, natural disasters and survival will be screened on 12 March. Seven Weeks by the same director will continue the program of the festival on 13 March. In this film, Nobuhiko Obayashi focuses on the borderline between life and death.
The films will be screened in Japanese with Russian subtitles. Tickets will be distributed free of charge one hour before the screening time.
