Minsk to host international book fair on 8-12 February

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – The 22nd Minsk International Book Fair will take place in the Belarusian capital on 8-12 February, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry.

This year the list of participants to showcase their products at the book forum includes Belarus, the UK, Venezuela, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, South Korea, Cuba, Lithuania, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Syria, the United States, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, France, Switzerland, and Ecuador. Greece will partake Minsk Book Fair for the first time, the source stressed.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will be a guest of honor at the 24th International Book Fair in Minsk. Russia, Germany, China, Iran, and the United States will present large joint expositions.

The 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing and the anniversaries of the giants of the Belarusian literature Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala will be the main themes of the 2017 Minsk Book Fair.

The 3rd International Literary Symposium entitled Writer and Time will be held as part of the book fair on 8-9 February. Partaking in the event will be well-known writers from the CIS and non-CIS countries. A seminar of young writers will also make part of the program.

Winners of the contest of young writers Pershatsvet (An Early Flower) will be presented with awards at the forum for the first time. The contest was founded by the Information Ministry of Belarus and organized by the publishing houses Zvyazda and Mastatskaya Litaratura.

The 22nd Minsk International Book Fair will be held in the national exhibition center BelExpo at 14 Pobeditelei Avenue. The forum is organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry and the bookselling companies Belkniga and Makbel.
