MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – An exhibition of book illustration by Belarusian artists, which is scheduled to open in the Minsk Palace of Arts on 5 February, will kick off the 26th Minsk International Book Fair, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry.
The display that will occupy two halls of the National Art Gallery will feature about 90 book illustrations. A number of Belarusian artists will showcase their best works. Alongside the artworks of outstanding illustrators such as Valery Slavuk, Viktor Nikita, Vladimir Savich, visitors will also see the works of the artists of the 2000s: Pavel Tatarnikov, Yuri Yakovenko, Igor Gordiyenko, Vladimir Dovgyalo, Margarita Timokhova, Tamara Shelest. The exhibition will also feature works of students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts.
The award ceremony of the winners of the 58th national competition Art of the Book on 8 February will be a special event of the exhibition.
The 26th Minsk International Book Fair will be held under the slogan "More Than Books" in the administrative complex at 14 Pobediteley Avenue in Minsk from 6 to 10 February. The fair site of 3,000 m2 will exhibit more than 300 stands. Representatives of 35 countries applied for the event. Some 60,000 people are expected to visit the fair.
The organizers of the Minsk International Book Fair are the Information Ministry, Minsk City Hall and the Belarusian Writers' Union. Co-organizers are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Education Ministry, the Culture Ministry, Belkniga and Makbel book selling companies.
