MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) - Minsk students became winners of the 8th Natural Sciences Tournament in St. Petersburg, BelTA learned from the organizers.
The final round on 18 November featured the best teams: Belarusian State University (BSU), Novosibirsk State University (NSU) and the team of St. Petersburg universities. The gold went to the Minsk team Entropia who offered the strongest solution for the Taj Mahal task. The students were to develop a new method to remove yellow stains from the mausoleum and to preserve the long-term protection of the surface.
Within five days, the participants considered the most pressing production problems, including in the field of medicine, biology, physics, solved applied technological problems from leading companies and research institutes and defended their ideas in debates.
For example, they were supposed to determine negative effects from eating food from cloned animals, to come up with experiments in physics using smartphones,or find the most affordable but effective method of cleaning marine shells to keep their color and shape.
The Natural Sciences Tournament 2017 is an annual team competition to address applied research tasks. It featured 21 teams from the major cities of Russia and CIS countries. The event was held by St. Petersburg State University with the support of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.
