MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – A Chinese language and culture faculty has been opened as part of the Minsk State Linguistic University (MSLU), the press service of the Belarusian Education Ministry told BelTA.
The faculty will include two departments focusing on theory and practice of the Chinese language and on speech studies and professional communication. The Chinese Language and Culture Faculty maintains tight contacts with the East China Normal University, the Beijing Foreign Studies University, and the Shanghai International Studies University. The faculty will train professors, translators, interpreters, and intercultural communication specialists in the sphere of foreign economic relations, public relations, and international tourism.
The opening ceremony took place on 2 March. MSLU Rector Natalya Baranova, Charge d'Affaires of China to Belarus Luo Zhanhui, and representatives of the East China Normal University made speeches during the ceremony. The East China Normal University was the MSLU’s key partner in the process of establishing the Chinese Language and Culture Faculty. Before the faculty was opened, the MSLU rector had discussed stages of the new faculty’s development, prospects of cooperation between the two universities with the Chinese side.
