MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – Minsk teachers are being offered Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in a mass inoculation campaign, First Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan said at a final session of the Minsk City Healthcare Department on 10 March, BelTA has learned.
“Vaccination of healthcare workers is underway in the country, we have recently started to vaccinate teachers and will soon move on to social workers and people who are in care homes,” Yelena Bogdan said.
At present hospitals are restarting their routine activities. New COVID-19 cases continue to decline in the country. “The situation is getting better, but we should keep our guard up. Social distancing, the use of personal protective equipment and hand hygiene remain relevant,” the first deputy minister said.
Yelena Bogdan thanked healthcare workers who continued treating coronavirus patients even throughout the surges in caseloads. “Minsk bore the brunt of the coronavirus outbreak. The city hospitals deals with the most difficult cases from all over the country and at the same time attended to local residents. Healthcare workers of the capital city and other places have gone through a lot and deserve our appreciation and respect,” the first deputy minister emphasized.
