MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – A team of Minsk school students placed second at the Second International Olympiad of Metropolises in Moscow, BelTA learned from the Education Committee of the Minsk City Hall.
The teams of Moscow, Hong Kong and Shanghai placed first in the overall medal standings. Silver medals went to the teams of Minsk, St. Petersburg, Krakow, Sofia and Belgrade. Third place was shared by the teams of Istanbul, Jakarta, Almaty, Budapest, Zagreb, Chengdu, Leipzig, Riga, Baku and Astana.
The second international competition of metropolises took place in Moscow from 4 to 8 September. The event brought together participants from 36 capitals and cities of the world. They competed in two rounds in physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science. Every team included eight school students: two for each subject. The medals were awarded in individual and team events.
In the individual competitions all 8 members of the Minsk team were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals.
