MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – Goteborg in Sweden, the region of Silesia in Poland, and Minsk have been invited to proceed with bidding for the 2024 European Athletics Championships, informs the website of the European Athletic Association .
The European Athletics Executive Board made the decision following a review of a report by an Evaluation Panel, which also had individual discussions with the interested parties. Each bidder presented the overall concept of their project for the event.
The selected bidders will now be requested to sign a bid undertaking by March 2019 and to proceed with a full bidding application submission due in June 2019.
A revised bidding roadmap has been put in place for the Olympic-year European Athletics Championships. This new strategy focuses on individual discussions and a continuous interactive evaluation from the first step of a bidding process between the bidders and European Athletics.
The next European Athletics Championships will take place in Paris on 26-30 August 2020, after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
