Minsk named most popular travel destination for Russians during spring school break

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - Minsk topped the list of tourist destinations most popular with Russians travelling with children during the spring school holidays, BelTA learned from the travel.ru tourist online service.

The top-10 foreign destinations popular for travel with children includes Minsk, Prague, Berlin, Lisbon, Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, Budapest, Helsinki and Baku.

According to travel.ru, in Minsk Russians with children book spring holidays for an average of three days and spend RUB2,800 on accommodation per day. The cheapest destination for travel with children during spring vacation is Hungary where tourists pay an average of RUB1,830 for accommodation per day. The most expensive is Italy (more than RUB9,000 per day).

The most popular foreign resort among Russian tourists traveling with kids during the spring break are Phuket (Thailand) and Batumi (Georgia).

The top ten Russian cities popular for travel with kids during the school spring break includes Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Petrozavodsk, Veliky Novgorod, Kostroma, Tula, and the resort city of Sochi.

The ranking is based on the number of hotel bookings made by Russian tourists traveling independently from 26 March to 3 April 2016.
