MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Minsk ranks first among the cities of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) that are most popular with Russian travelers during the autumn season, BelTA learned from the TurStat analytics agency.
Minsk is followed by Astana (Kazakhstan), and Yerevan (Armenia). Almaty (Kazakhstan) ranks 4th and Baku (Azerbaijan) is placed 5th in the ranking.
The top 10 popular cities for traveling are Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Kishinev (Moldova), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Dushanbe (Tajikistan), and Ashgabat (Turkmenistan).
According to the TurStat survey, during autumn trips to the CIS cities tourists spend $40-100 per day on accommodation and food. Russian tourists come to Minsk and Yerevan for holidays and to Astana and Baku for shopping.
The ranking is based on the survey of the most popular tourist destinations.
