MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – The 6th international science and practice conference “Liberation of Belarus. Memory through the years” will take place in the Belarusian State Museum of History of the Great Patriotic War on 17-18 April. The conference is timed to the 75th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the German invaders, the museum’s representatives told BelTA.
Scientists, researchers, and public figures, employees of museums and archives of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Germany will take part in the conference. Various matters relating to modern approaches to covering events of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 will be discussed during the conference. In particular, participants of the conference will discuss historiography and source studies, the partisan movement and the underground resistance movement in the occupied territory, the strategic offensive operation Bagration, perpetuation of the memory about events and heroes of Belarus’ liberation, victims of the war, homefront deeds, and other things.
A collection of the conference’s materials is supposed to be published afterwards.
The conference has been organized by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Belarusian State Museum of History of the Great Patriotic War, the History Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and the foundation for assisting with contemporary historical research Historical Memory.
