Minsk International Film Festival Listapad to run on 20-26 November

MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) – The Minsk International Film Festival Listapad is due to take place on 20-26 November, BelTA learned from press secretary of the National Film Studio Belarusfilm Alyona Astapovich.

“The directorate of the festival has already got down to work. This year the festival will be headquartered at the Belarusfilm studio,” Alyona Astapovich noted.

Like always, the film festival will be a showcase event for the world cinema industry. “It aims to introduce the Belarusian audience to the most interesting and significant works of foreign movie makers, to help the Belarusian cinema industry embrace the latest industry trends, to facilitate the professional growth of Belarusian movie makers,” the press secretary said.

This year the main competition program includes competitions of feature and documentary films, the Cinema of the Young competition, the Children's and Youth Film Competition Listapadzik.

“Preference will be given to movies that were highly acclaimed at international festivals. In addition, there will be screenings of the out-of-competition program Cinema of Friends that will include entries by Belarusfilm partners. There will be retrospective screenings dedicated to the 85th anniversary of outstanding director, People’s Artist of the USSR and BSSR Viktor Turov. Particular attention will be paid to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and the 50th anniversary of Belarusian animation,” Alyona Astapovich said.

The organizers of the film festival are the Culture Ministry, the Minsk City Council with the participation of Belteleradiocompany and the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers.
