MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – The 25th Minsk International Book Fair will showcase 360 exhibitors, Belarus’ Information Minister Alexander Karlyukevich said at a press conference in the national press center on 26 February, BelTA has learned.
The book fair will feature the exhibitors from 32 countries. Traditionally, the Minsk book fair will see the greatest representation y the publishing houses from Belarus and Russia. Some 64 exhibits will come from the neighboring country to Minsk.
“We would like to consolidate the contacts with the literary and art periodicals, book publishing companies of the Russian Federation,” the minister noted. There are already many examples of active cooperation between Russian and Belarusian publishers. Taking part in the exhibition will be the Russian publishing house Khudozhestvenaya Literatura. It will present the projects relevant to Belarus and offer the new ones for implementation in the coming years. The publishing house maintains strong contacts with the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literary Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
In his words, the Standing Committee of the Belarus-Russia Union State will have its stand at the exhibition. It will display the publication marking the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing, issued with the assistance of the Standing Committee.
The 25th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair will be held from 28 February to 4 March. The organizers are the Belarusian Information Ministry, Minsk City Hall, the companies Belkniga and Makbel.
