MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) - The 27th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair will take place in Minsk on 5-9 February, BelTA has learned from the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of Belarus.
The book fair in Minsk is one of the largest in the post-Soviet space. It opens the international calendar of book forums and showcases the achievements of the book publishers in Belarus over the past year. This landmark forum has its own distinctive cultural and ideological features.
“Historically, Belarus has been a hospitable country where you can get acquainted with the customs of many cultures. Many ethnicities have co-existed peacefully in our country and the cultural diversity is a source of mutual enrichment. Our country has become an example of peacefulness, tolerance, and inter-ethnic fraternity. The program of the Minsk International Book Fair is built around these concepts,” the ministry said.
The fair will be held not only at the exhibition grounds but also in bookstores, libraries and museums. The event will also feature meetings with authors, publishers, and artists, and also book presentations, roundtables, autograph sessions and master classes.
The organizers are the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of Belarus, Minsk City Hall, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Education Ministry, the Culture Ministry, the Belarusian Writers Union, and Belkniga and Makbel book selling companies.
