MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Delegates from 50 countries will take part in the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) due in Minsk on 20-22 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee.
Representatives of all 50 European National Olympic Committees have confirmed their participation in the Minsk meeting. The Belarusian capital will host President of the Association of National Olympic Committees Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, Acting President of the European Olympic Committees Janez Kocijancic, President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Wu Ching-kuo, Vice President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and President of Ukraine NOC Sergey Bubka, Vice President of the International Canoe Federation and Deputy Chairman of the WADA’s Athlete Committee Tony Estanguet, President of the World Archery Federation, IOC Vice President, Chairman of the IOC's Medical and Sports Science Commission and President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey Ugur Erdener, WADA’s Chief Operating Officer Frederic Donze.
The EOC Executive Committee Meeting and the presentation of the new EOC logo are scheduled for 20 October.
The Hall of Olympic Glory of Belarus’ National Olympic Committee will be the main venue of the EOC General Assembly.
On Friday, 21 October, the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater will host a gala to mark the 25th anniversary of the founding of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus. The event will bring together champions and prizewinners of the Olympic Games, coaches and specialists, famous athletes, delegates and guests of the General Assembly.
More than 70 Belarusian and 20 foreign media representatives have been accredited to cover the 45th EOC General Assembly. Among them are The Associated Press, Reuters, MIA Russia Today, the German TV station WDR.
A stylized Belarusian cornflower will be the logo of the 45th EOC General Assembly in Minsk.
