MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – The renovated Dinamo Stadium in Minsk has been nominated for the Stadium of the Year 2018 titles, BelTA learned from the website stadiumdb.com which conducts the voting.
Dinamo Stadium was built in 1934 and was reconstructed several times later. The recent renovations were launched in 2012 and completed in 2018. The seating capacity of the stadium is 22,246. The arena can host the most prestigious international athletics and football competitions. In June 2019 the Minsk Dinamo Stadium will play host to the opening and closing ceremonies, and also the athletics tournament of the 2nd European Games 2019. This big multi-sport forum will run from 21 to 30 June.
Apart from Minsk Dinamo Stadium, taking part in the vote for the Stadium of the year 2018 are 26 arenas from the United States, Australia, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Turkey, Iran, Iraq and China.
The winner will be named after both the jury and popular votes are held. The results will be announced on 7-8 March. In 2015 Borisov Arena finished 7th in the vote.
