MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Minsk and Beijing intend to expand cooperation in tourism and education, BelTA learned from Beijing Mayor Wang Anshun.
A Beijing delegation led by the city’s mayor is in Minsk on a visit. According to Wang Anshun, there are plans to sketch out new avenues of trade and economic cooperation, including in tourism and education.
“Over 20 million people live in Beijing. They travel abroad for vacations, this is why we would like Minsk to be one of their travel destinations,” noted Wang Anshun.
Cooperation in education affairs will become stronger with regard to student exchange programs. “We intend to provide education grants to allow Belarusians to go to Beijing for education and we will send Chinese students here for education,” said the Mayor.
Wang Anshun was confident that Belarus-China traditional friendship would pass from generation to generation like that.
Wang Anshun spoke highly of the results secured in Minsk-Beijing trade and economic cooperation already. The trade turnover between the cities is on the rise. Such major landmarks as the Beijing Hotel, the residential estate Lebyazhy and other ones have emerged in the Belarusian capital.
