MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - Minsk was in the top 10 Christmas destinations for Russian travelers during the winter break, BelTA learned from the Russian travel online-service Travel.ru.
According to Travel.ru, Top 10 foreign cities popular among Russian tourists during the New Year's holidays included Prague, Tallinn, Riga, Berlin, Helsinki, Rome, Vienna, Vilnius, Warsaw and Minsk.
Minsk was 10th in the ranking of foreign destinations for Russian tourists during the New Year and Christmas holidays, and was the most popular travel destination in the CIS. In the first decade of January Russian tourists stayed in Minsk on average for three days and paid around RUB3,500 for accommodation per day.
The Top 10 most popular Russia cities for travel during the New Year's holidays included Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Pskov, Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Novgorod.
The Top 10 cities popular for travel with kids during the winter break featured St. Petersburg, Sochi, Moscow, Tallinn, Riga, Kazan, Kostroma, Prague, Veliky Novgorod and Vologda.
The ranking was made based on the number of hotel reservations made by Russian tourists traveling independently from 1 to 10 January 2016.
