MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) - Medved (Moskovsky District, Minsk) defeated Minsk Griffons 4-3 to win the U15 Golden Puck tournament, BelTA has learned.
Before the final period Medved was ahead 3-1 and later scored a fourth. Griffons managed to narrow the gap but could not tie the game. Nikolai Lukashenko scored one back and assisted Griffons’ third goal.
Bronze went to Olymp Luninets District who beat Mirazh Mogilev Oblast 5-3.
The winners and prizeholders of the tournament received awards from Education Minister Igor Karpenko, Sports Minister Alexander Shamko and Chairman of the Presidential Sports Club Dmitry Lukashenko.
The closing ceremony of the U15 Golden Puck tournament and the awarding of the best players were held after the final match of the 14th Christmas amateur ice hockey tournament at Chizhovka Arena.
The Golden Puck tournament was resumed in Belarus in 1997 following the initiative of head of state Alexander Lukashenko. Among the organizers of the competitions are the Education Ministry, the Sports and Tourism Ministry, the BRSM Youth Union, the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation, the Presidential Sports Club, and the Golden Puck children’s ice hockey club.
