MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) - The 14th international Silk Way Rally finished in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, on 15 July, BelTA has learned.
The final, 11th stage, envisaged a 323.5km route from the city of Mandalgovi to Ulaanbaatar. Pilot of Russia’s KAMAZ-master Bogdan Karimov clocked the bets time among trucks – 2:41.17. The MAZ-SPORTavto crew piloted by Siarhei Viazovich came in second, 2.5 minutes behind the winner. Two more Belarusian trucks led by Aliaksei Vishneuski and Vitali Murylev finished seventh and eighth respectively.
Dmitry Sotnikov’s KAMAZ-master crew topped the Silk Way overall standings for the fifth time in his sporting career (2013, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2024). His fellow Russian Eduard Nikolayev placed second, nine minutes behind. Siarhei Viazovich placed third in the chart following victories in the second and fifth stages. Aliaksei Vishnevski placed sixth, Vitali Murylev – tenth.
Siarhei Viazovich outran Bogdan Karimov by 14 minutes to claim bronze. This has become the fifth medal place for the MAZ-SPORTauto team in the history of its participation in the Silk Way Rally. Belarus won the main trophy in 2023, placed second in the overall standings in 2021 and was third in 2013 and 2022.
