MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ MAZ-SPORTavto crew led by pilot Sergei Vyazovich finished the third leg of the 2016 Silk Way Rally in second position, BelTA learned from MAZ-Sport Auto Team.
The 200km-long special turned out to be the first serious test. The previous special stage was cancelled due to downpours.
Sergei Vyazovich’s crew covered the distance in some 2h7m, 1m36s off Kamaz’s Andrei Karginov who notched up the fastest time. After the third leg of the rally, they place second in the overall standings.
The MAZ crew of Vladimir Vasilevsky finished the stage in 9th clocking over 2h13m. Alexander Vasilevsky’s crew came in 11th, almost 11.5 minutes behind the stage leader.
The next stage of the rally will take the racers from Kostanay to Astana.
The route of the 2016 Silk Way Rally passes through three countries, Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The race crosses 15 cities, the Gobi Desert, and Tien Shan mountain ranges. One of the stages will bring its participants to Balkhash Lake. Partaking in the rally are 24 trucks and 100 offroaders that will run a total of 10,735km.
