MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – Two exhibitions titled as Masterpieces of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus and the Sculpture of Sergei Selikhanov and Konstantin Selikhanov have opened at the National Art Museum of China, BelTA learned from the National Art Museum of Belarus.
The exposition of the masterpieces of the National Art Museum includes 57 works from the collection of the Belarusian art of the 19th -21st centuries and the Russian art of the late 19th-early 20th centuries.
The exhibition project is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and China. The structure of the exposition makes it possible to trace the interrelations between Russian and Belarusian art, to show the features of the development of Belarusian art in the context of traditions and modernity, through the creative dialogue of masters of different generations, artistic traditions and stylistic interests.
On show are the paintings of famous Russian painters Ilya Repin, Isaac Levitan, Ivan Shishkin, Ivan Kramskoi, Valentin Serov, Boris Kustodiev, Belarusian painters of the 19th-20th centuries Ivan Khrutsky, Vitold Byalynitsky-Birulya, Stanislav Zhukovsky, Mikhail Savitsky, Gavriil Vashchenko, Mai Dantsig, Viktor Gromyko, Pavel Maslenikov, Alexander Kishchenko, Vladimir Stelmashonok, works by contemporary Belarusian artists Vladimir Tovstik, Vasily Sumarev, Valery Shkarubo, Svetlana Kotkova, Igor Barkhatkov, Vasily Kostyuchenko, and others.
The works of Belarusian painters presented in the exhibition convey the inimitable color, spiritual content and emotionality of the Belarusian fine arts, show the continuity of the great traditions and the national peculiarity of Belarusian culture. The artistic project proves that the national art school is a polyphonic phenomenon capable of integrating any manifestations of creative energy and offering new plastic ideas.
A namesake album has been especially developed for the exhibition in the Belarusian, English and Chinese languages.
The second exposition includes 115 works of sculpture and 16 paintings and graphics by Sergei Selikhanov and Konstantin Selikhanov from the collection of the National Art Museum, the Belynichi Region Art Museum named after V.K.Belynistki-Birulya, the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art and the collection of the family of the artist Sergei Selikhanov.
The exhibitions are held as part of the program of the Silk Road Economic Belt special project.
