MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) - The 22nd international exhibition Mass Media in Belarus opened in Minsk on 3 May, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry.
Taking part in the opening ceremony was Deputy Head of the Belarus President’s Administration Vladimir Zhevnyak, Information Minister Alexander Karlyukevich, Chairman of the Council of the Republic’s Standing Commission for International Affairs and National Security Sergei Rakhmanov, Vice Governor of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Russia) Irina Sokolova, Director General of Trend News Agency (Azerbaijan) Ilgar GUseinov.
Vladimir Zhevnyak read out the Belarusian president’s letter of greetings to the participants of the exhibition and congratulated media workers on the forthcoming professional holiday, wishing them inexhaustible energy and every success.
The expo, which will be running from 3-5 May, is featuring more than 50 exhibitors that display about 400 printed mass media outlets from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, China, Turkey, and other countries. The mass media from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Russia is displayed for the first time. The total area of the exposition exceeds 1,000 square meters.
The expo reflects the whole range of the information space in the country. Among the participants of the forum are printed and audio-visual mass media, internet resources, news agencies, cable TV operators and distributors, publishing houses.
The forum will include presentations of information and internet projects, autograph sessions, master classes, and other events. Heads of mass media outlets, journalists, and experts will discuss the most important issues related to the operation of the media sector, the role of mass media in the development of the society and the state.
The expo will include a presentation of the Bel-Ros TV channel of TRO Soyuz, BelTA’s presentation for managers and workers of marketing services of the leading companies of Belarus.
A number of events will be dedicated to the Year of Native Land in Belarus. A roundtable meeting will be organized by the Zvyazda publishing house in cooperation with the Nastaunitskaya Gazeta newspaper. BelTA will present its project “Legends of Native Land: Slutsk Belts”, while the mass media of Grodno Oblast will showcase the Castles of Belarus project.
The Day of Regional Press that is new to the exhibition will be held on 4 May.
Events for children will be held mostly on 5 May. This date has been announced as the Day of Children and Youth.
The expo will also feature ceremonies to award winners and prize holders of the national contest among printed mass media Golden Letter. The awards will be presented on 3 May.
The expo is held in the exhibition complex at 14 Pobeditelei Avenue.
Mass Media in Belarus has been held annually since 1997 by the Belarusian Information Ministry in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minsk City Hall, the Belexpo National Exhibition Center, other government bodies, the country’s leading mass media and public organizations.
