BREST, 2 March (BelTA) – The Maslenitsa Week (Pancake Festival) in Belovezhskaya Pushcha will kick off on 6 March, BelTA learnt from head of the tourism department of the national park Oksana Bogaleisha.
The celebrations will take place at the museum of ethnography and ancient traditions. Visitors will be treated to a theatrical performance and an interesting program with games and entertainment. Craftsmen will hold master-classes for tourists. Everyone will also be able to learn how to cook Maslenitsa pancakes, enjoy a field kitchen and herbal tea, shashlyk, fish broth and other Pushcha’s table delicacies.
The Maslenitsa Week will culminate in bidding farewell to winter and welcoming spring at the Father Frost Estate on 12 March. The Pushcha guests will be taken on a tour around the place, invited to take part in dances and visit trading shows. The rite of burning the effigy, a traditional part of Maslenitsa, will wrap up the Pancake Week celebrations.
The Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park is a tourist brand of both Brest Oblast and entire Belarus. Every year the park is visited by more than 300,000 Belarusians and foreigners.
