MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ Lidziya Marozava and Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat Russian duo of Ekaterina Shalimova and Daria Mishina 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the doubles quarterfinal at the St Petersburg Open, BelTA has learned.
At the start of the tournament Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich (world No.97) saw off Romania’s Ana Bogdan (No.99) 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the St Petersburg singles. On 18 March the Belarusian will face Russia’s Daria Kasatkina (No.61).
Belarus’ Vera Lapko (No.281) had to withdraw in the middle of her match against Jaqueline Cristian of Romania due to health reasons.
The tournament in St Petersburg will be over on 21 March.
