Marathon of Unity described as huge honor and responsibility for Orsha

ORSHA, 6 December (BelTA) – Orsha is ready to be a great host for the national social and cultural campaign Marathon of Unity, Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee Igor Moroz told journalists, BelTA has learned.

“We watched with great interest as the Marathon of Unity was traveling through the country, and we are very happy to welcome it in Orsha. This project cuts across various cities and towns, enterprises, people of different generations, and gives the opportunity to look back, take stock of the achievements of the last decades and move together towards a common goal - a prosperous Belarus,” said Igor Moroz.

He emphasized that preparations for the event took several weeks, and in recent days the city was getting ready for the marathon literally non-stop. “We have made every effort together with the organizers to make sure that local residents and visitors will enjoy the quests, activities, exhibitions and master classes during the marathon. Particular attention is paid to the cultural program  that will culminate with a grand patriotic gala concert,” the head of the district added.

Igor Moroz noted that one of the highlights of the event will be an exhibition of military equipment. The idea of the exhibition has to do with the history of Orsha. “Our city is famous for its flax industry, the railway, and the first salvo of the Katyusha. This inspired the organizers to put together an exhibition, which, I am sure, will be of interest to all visitors,” he remarked.

The chairman of the district executive committee added that it is not only a great honor, but also a huge responsibility for Orsha to host the Marathon of Unity, because Orsha District is the homeland of the president of Belarus. “We put our heart and mind to making the event a real celebration of unity for everyone,” he added.

Orsha will be hosting the Marathon of Unity on 6 and 7 December. The program includes concerts, excursions, meetings, master classes and much more.
