KRASNOYARSK, 7 March (BelTA) – Maksim Varabei of Belarus finished fourth in the 12.5K Men Pursuit at the 2019 Winter Universiade which is underway in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk on 2-12 March, BelTA has learned.
Maksim Varabei clocked 36:17.2 to place fourth with five penalties. Gold went to Russia’s Dmitry Ivanov (34:10.7). His fellow compatriot Nikita Porshnev took silver in 34:24.9. Bronze was collected by Russia’s Eduard Latypov (35:17.0).
In the 10K Women Pursuit Belarus’ Anna Musatova placed 16th (41:08.9).
Belarus has won two gold medals in the Aerials so far.
The Universiade which is running from 2 to 12 March will have 76 medal events in 11 sports: biathlon, Alpine skiing, curling, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ski orienteering, figure skating, freestyle, ice hockey, bandy and short track speed skating. Competing in the sport forum are about 3,000 athletes from more than 50 countries.
