MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – The exposition of masterpieces of Chinese traditional weaving and embroidery arts of the 19th -21st centuries and the costumes of numerous Chinese nationalities opened at the Belarus National Art Museum, BelTA learned from the National Art Museum of Belarus.
The exhibition has been organized by the Museum of Chinese Women and Children with the support of the Culture Ministry of the People's Republic of China. The exhibition vividly shows the identity of the Chinese culture and lets us get acquainted with the ancient and modern fashion trends in women's clothing, Belarus’ Culture Minister Boris Svetlov said at the opening ceremony. Visitors will be able to see not just a collection of masterpieces of Chinese weaving but also get acquainted with an amazing history of costumes of different sections of the population of the Celestial Empire: from the emperor to ordinary people.
"Chinese culture strives towards harmony, and women's clothing has a special charm and sophistication. Silk with embroidered jewelry highlights the beauty of a woman,” Deputy Head of the Museum of Chinese Women and Children Yuan Yang said during the ceremony. “I think that by getting to know the traditional Chinese clothing many Belarusians will develop a keen interest in Chinese culture,” she noted.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by a Chinese delegation headed by China Deputy Culture Minister Mr. Ding Wei who arrived in Minsk for the Days of Chinese culture.
The exposition Silk will stay open until 24 October.
