Lukashenko shown Team Belarus Tokyo 2020 outfit

MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has attended a presentation of Team Belarus outfits for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, BelTA informs.

The outfits were designed by the Belarusian companies Solo Pinsk and Svitanak. The Olympic kits were presented by gymnast Kseniya Sankovich and swimmer Aliaksandra Herasimenya. Representatives of the companies were also invited to the presentation.

One of the outfits is white and blue, featuring ornaments and patterns. The other is a white and red kit. This outfit looks the most patriotic and a bit retro. Its minimalistic design resembles the Soviet times.
“I can say this outfit will be in demand,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The president liked all the samples. The final decision, however, has not been made yet and will involve a wider public, first of all, the athletes. Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the uniform should be comfortable and the fabric should be of high quality. The head of state said that it is important that the Belarusian uniforms remain popular with fans after the Olympic Games. “If the fabric is good, these kits will be in demand,” he said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko was also briefed that Belarusian manufacturers are now discussing the development of a national sportswear brand. The president liked the idea.

After the presentation, the athletes told journalists that they pay attention to the functionality of uniforms and the quality of fabrics in the first place. “The kits have a new great design that is recognizable from afar. We are happy with the fabric, it is very light and breathable. I think this is the best design for Tokyo,” Aleksandra Herasimenya said. She found it difficult to answer which of the uniforms she liked more.

Ksenia Sankovich said she liked the white and red collection more. “It is more patriotic, although perhaps it looks a little too bold,” said the gymnast.
