TASHKENT, 13 September (BelTA) – The official welcoming ceremony for Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is underway at Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state residence Kuksaroy (Blue Palace), BelTA has learned.
On the second day of his visit, the Belarusian head of state is holding talks with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Two leaders posted for a joint photo and then proceeded to an official welcome ceremony featuring the orchestra and the guard of honor.
After the national anthems were played, the presidents greeted the members of their delegations and headed for talks. Alexander Lukashenko and Shavkat Mirziyoyev are set to meet one-on-one first and then hold talks with the participation of their delegations. The parties are expected to focus on the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, development of industrial cooperation and launching of assembly plants to produce in-demand equipment in Uzbekistan.
The sides will also discuss the enhancement of interaction in other areas, including manufacturing, agriculture, humanitarian matters and tourism. They will pay special attention to the development of regional cooperation as an efficient tool for bolstering trade and economic ties.
The presidents are expected to sign a package of bilateral documents and then speak to the media.
The state residence Kuksaroy is situated 17km away from Tashkent in the village of Durmen.
