MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarus is removing barriers for foreign tourists, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with the TASS news agency, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.
“What have we done recently? We have the Augustow Canal, Belovezhskaya Pushcha, and they are located on the western border. I have made two decisions, to grant visa-free entry to the Augustow Canal that connects Lithuania, Poland and Belarus and also to Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Now foreign tourists can stay there visa-free for a certain number of days. We have seen a surge in the inflow of tourists who bring money. I am saying that advertising is not enough. To attract tourists, we should take certain steps to remove these barriers,” the head of state noted.
Alexander Lukashenko added: “We have started to work on this. We are only at the beginning of the process, but still it is a good thing that the process has gotten off the ground.”
