MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko harvested potatoes and melons on the territory of his official residence Drozdy on 16 August, BelTA learned from Spokesperson for the Belarusian President Natalya Eismont.At first, Alexander Lukashenko and his younger son Nikolai harvested potatoes. It took them 1.5 hours to gather a good harvest from the field of 1,800 square meters. In the near future the harvest will be handed over to orphanages and rest homes.
The harvesting of melons started at the President’s residence on Sunday. Last year the head of state showed by his personal example that these fruits can and should be grown in Belarus. This year the area under melons was three times bigger. The first water melon was tasted in the field, and it was very good.
