MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – Sport must be clean. Doping should not be tolerated, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at a session held on 13 April to discuss the development of winter sports, BelTA has learned.
“I cannot but touch upon the doping issue today. Great scandals have recently shaken the world. Sanctions are imposed against the countries, let alone individual athletes,” the Belarusian leader said.
“Sport must stay clean. No doping should be tolerated,” the head of state said.
“At the same time we cannot allow a discriminatory attitude to our athletes. The example is the suspension of the Belarusian men's canoe and kayak national team from the 2016 Rio Games,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
