MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – This year the competition program of the Listapadzik film festival for children and youth audiences will feature six movies, program director of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad, director of Listapadzik Igor Sukmanov told the media, BelTA has learned.
“These movies, I think, are small yet important revelations about the theme of childhood. They represent Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, China, Estonia and Serbia. Listapadzik will open with the Belarusian movie (out of competition) Gamer Rules by Igor Chetverikov. The closing movie is the Brazilian animated movie “Tito and Birds,” Igor Sukmanov said.
According to him, the main goal of the project is to show that movies for children's audiences are as important as the ones catering to grown-up viewers. “I think that children's movies are not just about adventure and entertainment. They are a very candid trusting conversation between adults and children. It was from this point of view that we compiled the Listapadzik program. We want children to come to the cinema houses together with their parents, grandparents, older siblings to watch movies and discover the world familiar to them in a new way. To draw up such a program was not easy. Kids change and we wanted to show different phases of childhood. But I think we managed to do it,” Igor Sukmanov said.
Listapadzik will be running from 3 to 6 November, and its competition program from 3 to 5 November.
