MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Agreements on cooperation were signed by leading universities of Belarus and Turkey during the 1st Belarusian-Turkish inter-university forum in Minsk on 2 October, BelTA has learned.
“At present there are 45 direct agreements between higher educational establishments of Belarus and Turkey. Today we have signed a number of new inter-university agreements that envisage academic mobility, staff and student exchange, joint research, including under the European Union programs and Erasmus+ in particular,” Belarus’ Education Minister Igor Karpenko said.
The Belarusian State University signed memorandums of understanding with three Turkish universities: Karabuk University, Istanbul University and Istanbul Medeniyet University.
The agreements provide for academic exchanges, joint educational programs, research projects and activities, exchange of information and training materials.
Karabuk University ranks among the best universities in Turkey, while Istanbul Medeniyet University is known for its focus on research, innovation, international cooperation, and entrepreneurship. Istanbul University is the oldest university in Turkey and one of the first ten universities established in Europe.
The Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank signed a protocol of intent with Selcuk University. Rector of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University Aleksandr Zhuk gave his Turkish counterpart a roadmap of inter-university cooperation, which reflects the main areas of interaction between educational institutions of the two countries in the social and pedagogical fields.
The parties also signed a program of cooperation in higher education between Belarus and Turkey for 2020-2021. The document was signed by Belarus’ Education Minister Igor Karpenko and President of the Council of Higher Education Yekta Sarac.
The 1st Belarusian-Turkish inter-university forum is aimed at strengthening contacts between universities of two countries, determining cooperation prospects in education and science. The program of the forum includes a meeting of the business council of higher educational establishments of Belarus and Turkey. The parties will talk over issues of training specialists, recognition of certificates, academic exchanges, and development of joint educational programs.
