MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – The law enforcement agencies of Belarus and Russia keep in close contact to maintain public order at the 2018 FIFA World Cup,Belarus’ Interior Minister Igor Shunevich told the media, BelTA has learned.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the host cities have set up situational centers. Belarusian law-enforcers maintain close contact with each of them over possible conflict situations with fans, the minister said.
Russian FAN IDs which give the right for a visa-free entry and stay in the Russian Federation are valid from 4 June, ten days before the start of the championships, through to 25 July. To cross the Belarusian border a foreign traveler must present a FAN ID and a valid passport. “So far no violations on the part of fans have been registered,” Igor Shunevich noted.
As BelTA reported earlier, on 29 May Belarus and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement on certain issues related to the rules of entry of foreign nationals and stateless persons attending international sport events. In line with the document foreign fans will be able to travel through Belarus visa-free during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia from 4 June to 25 July. Russia, in turn, will introduce visa-free entry and stay on its territory for foreign fans attending the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019.
