GRODNO, 18 May (BelTA) – Krevo and Zalesye, Smorgon District, will make part of a tourism cluster, BelTA learned from the coordinators of the project “Cluster approach and information technologies for local government and sustainable development of rural areas.”
Smorgon District will start the implementation stage of the project of international technical assistance with a roundtable in the Smorgon Local History Museum on 21 May. Its participants will discuss the historical and cultural potential of Smorgon District for creating the cluster.
The project provides for the introduction of the cluster approach and the use of information technologies in Smorgon District, which, experts believe, will help enhance the local governance of the rural areas and create preconditions for its dynamic and successful development.
At first, the cluster will include the territories of the rural councils of Zalesye and Krevo and the town of Smorgon.
Farmsteads, private and state-run organizations, hospitality and catering establishments will join their efforts to implement the project that envisages construction of two tourist information centers and creation of a website for booking tours.
The project is expected to be completed by March 2017. The budget of the EU-funded project amounts to €300,000. It is co-funded by the Smorgon District Executive Committee.
