MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Moscow has hosted a series of events to celebrate the 120th birthday of Belarusian writer Kondrat Krapiva, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia.
The State Museum of the History of the Belarusian Literature organized a vernissage entitled Kondrat Krapiva. From Childhood to Manhood, which opened at the Business and Cultural Center of the Belarusian embassy on 4 February. The funds of the museum contain more than 1,500 exhibits received from Kondrat Krapiva’s family. Among them are documents, manuscripts, photos, books and illustrations to the writer’s works.
The Film Actor’s Theater of Belarusfilm Studio presented the play He Who Laughs Last after Kondrat Krapiva’s comedy, a masterpiece of the Belarusian classics written in 1939.
The events were held as part of the Year of Culture.
Kondrat Krapiva is the Belarusian writer of the 20th century. He was an excellent language expert, social activist, the Vice President of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences, MP of the BSSR Supreme Council, Hero of the Socialist Labor, three-time the SSSR State Awards holder, winner of the Belarus Yanka Kupala State Award. Krapiva’s name is closely related to the development of satirical writing in the country. Kondrat Krapiva also wrote fables and dramatic works.
