MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Abubakar Khaslakhanau of Belarus has earned the first medal for Belarus at the ongoing European U23 Wrestling Championships 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian defeated Murad Ahmadiyev of Azerbaijan, Richard Karelson of Estonia and Aapo Viitala of Finland in the qualifying bouts. In the gold medal Abubakar Khaslakhanau lost to Russia’s Magomed Murtazaliev.
Abubakar Khaslakhanau is a world junior champion (2021, 2023), bronze medalist of the 2024 European Wrestling Championships, and a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Games.
