Japanese TV crew arrive in Vitebsk to shoot film about Belarus

VITEBSK, 7 June (BelTA) – A team of TV reporters from Japan have arrived in Vitebsk to shoot the footage for a film about Belarus, BelTA learned from Daria Matskevich, deputy head of the sport and tourism department at the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee.

“The arrangement on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) making a film about Belarus was reached at the interstate level a long time ago. Six months ago the film director visited Vitebsk. He was impressed by Vitebsk as a city of culture and inspiration for artists. They want to show the city in such a light. The team of seven people arrived at Minsk National Airport on 6 June. From there, they went straight to Vitebsk, which will be the first destination on their working schedule. Today journalists are busy shooting on location all day,” Daria Matskevich said.

In the morning, the guests from Japan shot the sights of the city. They will later go around the Chagall places: the Art Center and the House-Museum (which is particularly symbolic in the year of the 130th anniversary of the birth of the artist). They will also visit the children’s school of arts. From Vitebsk, the Japanese journalists will travel to other regions, and will complete their tour in Minsk. “The film about Belarus will be shown on the ABC Japan to promote tourism to Belarus and raise the interest of the Japanese people in our country,” Daria Matskevich added.
