VITEBSK, 5 July (BelTA) – Nikita Yamashita, the legendary baritone of the Japan-based Royal Knights male choir, will open Ivan Kupala festivities in the town of Beshenkovichi, Vitebsk Oblast on 6 July, local officials told BelTA.
The singer will make his first-ever appearance at the national Kupala holiday to pay tribute to Belarus-Japan friendship. He will perform songs in Japanese, Russian, and Belarusian. The set list will feature a lot of popular Soviet songs from the 1950s-70s. The Beshenkovichi community center will see Nikita Yamashita give a performance alongside professional and amateur vocal groups from across the district.
In the evening of 6 July, the Japanese artist will join an international army of artists to celebrate Kupala in Aleksandriya, Mogilev Oblast. The visit is organized under the aegis of the Belarusian Embassy in Japan and Nativita pharmaceutical company.
