BREST, 13 October (BelTA) - The 29th edition of the international festival January Music Nights will take place in the Belarusian city of Brest on 9-12 January, art director of the forum, Honored Figure of Art and Holder of the President’s Special Award Lilia Batyreva told BelTA.
One of the long-standing traditions of the forum is its high creative level. Alongside with the world stage stars the Music Nights will feature young musicians who have already made a name at different international competitions. The fact that no one of the participants of the forthcoming festival has taken part in the forum before will be a novelty of this year’s January Music Nights.
The festival will open with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 by the Presidential Orchestra under the baton of Viktor Babarikin.
The program of the first music night will also include a number of arias and romantic songs from leading mezzo-soprano of the Mariinsky Theater Olga Borodina. On 9 January the Brest audience will also hear the works of the European composers of the 19th century performed by French-American pianist Eugen Indjic.
On 10 January “King of the Russian Romantic Song”, People’s Artist of Russia Oleg Pogudin will perform on the stage of the Brest Academic Drama Theater for the first time.
On 11 January a Parade of Pianists will feature musicians from Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Japan. The program of the third music night will also include Bach’s clavier concert played by prize-holder of international competitions Vera Nosina.
Partaking in the festival will also be a band of saxophonists from Brest’s twin city Coevorden, the Netherlands, the State Chamber Orchestra of Belarus. The January Music Nights closing concert will feature composer, classic and jazz pianist Konstanty Wilenski from Poland and opera singer from Kazakhstan Gulnara Nurgaliyeva.
Apart from evening concerts, the program of the festival will also comprise two matinees at the Brest Music College and one concert in Zhabinka. Partaking in the forum will be over 200 musicians from ten countries.
The international festival January Music Nights is organized by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, Brest Oblast Executive Committee, Brest City Hall, and the Brest Oblast Music Society.
