Ivashka progresses into Munich quarterfinal

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) - Belarus’ world number 107 Ilya Ivashka has reached the quarterfinal at the ATP 250 tennis tournament in Munich, BelTA has learned.

In the round of Last 16 the Belarusian solved world number 127 Mackenzie McDonald of the United States 6-7 (7-9), 6-1, 6-2 in two hours and seven minutes. Ilya Ivashka will face Germany’s world number 6 Alexander Zverev for a spot in the semifinal. In the round of Last 32 the Belarusian took a solid win, 6-1, 6-2, over world number 75 Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland. Ilya Ivashka made the main draw through the qualifying where he beat Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak and Lithuania’s Ricardas Berankis.

The tournament in Munich will be over on 2 May.
