MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – Belarus-Israel cultural projects were discussed at a meeting between Belarus Deputy Culture Minister Vasily Chernik, Director of the National History Museum Oleg Ryzhkov and Vice Mayor of Ashdod Boris Giterman on 7 April, BelTA has learned.
Attending the meeting was also Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Israel Vladimir Skvortsov and head of the Ashdod Office of the All-Israeli Association of Immigrants from Belarus Isaac Tsfasman.
“The parties discussed issues related to cooperation with the Ashdod Municipality in the cultural sector, including the plans to hold the Days of Belarusian Culture and the Kupala Readings (to mark the poet’s 135th birthday) in 2017,” the Belarusian embassy said.
The head of the diplomatic mission presented the Chairman of the Belarusian association of the city with a collection of Yanka Kupala's works.
On the same day Vasily Chernik and Oleg Ryzhkov paid a visit to Yanka Kupala Square in Ashdod to lay flowers at the monument set up in honor of the Belarusian writer in 2015.
