MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – Belarusian wrestler Iryna Kurachkina secured a champion title at the Individual World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia, BelTA has learned.
In the women’s 55kg final Iryna Kurachkina defeated Annika Wendle from Germany 9-0.
Zalina Sidakova of Belarus (53kg) took bronze in the bout against Zeynep Yetgil of Turkey, 3-0.
Hanna Sadchanka and Vasilisa Marzalyuk will compete on the final day of the Individual World Cup on 16 December.
The competitions in Belgrade should have been held in the status of the 2020 World Championships, but in mid-November the International Wrestling Federation decided to change the format of the tournament to an Individual World Cup because of the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 500 athletes from over 50 countries are competing in Greco-Roman, women's and freestyle wrestling.
