MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – The International Research Center for History of Science and Technology will be set up in 2015, BelTA learnt from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences.
“The Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), the Institute for the History of Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute for the History of Natural Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have signed a trilateral agreement to set up the International Research Center for History of Science and Technology. The center will be opened in 2015 and be based at the abovementioned institutes,” the press service said.
According to the NASB, the main tasks of the new organization will be the implementation of joint projects and programs on the history of the world science and technology, international scientific research. “Apart from that, the center is designed to coordinate research in the history of science and technology conducted in Russia, China, Belarus and other CIS countries, organize scientific conferences, seminars, roundtables, exhibitions and other scientific events,” the press service said.
“The opening of the International Research Center for History of Science and Technology at the basis of the world’s leading scientific centers such as the Institute for the S.I. Vavilov Institute of the History of Natural Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute for the History of Natural Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will promote the development of scientific research in our country,” the NASB said.
The trilateral agreement was signed at the international scientific conference on the history of space technology that took place in Moscow in late May. The forum was held on the initiative of the S.I. Vavilov Institute of the History of Natural Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute for the History of Natural Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the auspices of the Gagarin Research and Test Cosmonaut Training Center, the Moscow Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics, the Russian Association of Space Explorers, the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics by K.E. Tsiolkovsky. Mikhail Artyukhin, head of the monitor center for migration of academic and teaching staff at the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, presented his report on the history of the development of space research in the Republic of Belarus.
