MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – The Youth Chamber under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is about to launch an international project called Digital Star, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Youth Chamber Aleksandr Lukyanov.
According to the source, information about monuments in the Union State of Belarus and Russia and sites of major battles of the Soviet army will be digitized as part of the project. Public associations and municipal government agencies of Belarus and Russia have backed the idea.
Together with young historians, volunteers, historic reenactment clubs the young MPs are going to search for information about the life and deeds of war heroes. A map of memorable places related to the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 will be created. War veterans will be honored.
“The year of the 75th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders is very important for us. The next year is the year of the 75th anniversary of the victory. The Youth Chamber should not stay away from these important events. Young people should be the ones to pick up the relay race of memory and pass it on to the next generations!” the chairman of the Youth Chamber stressed.
