VITEBSK, 8 April (BelTA) - The international conference timed to the centennial anniversary of Vitebsk People's Art School will take place in Vitebsk on 9-10 April, BelTA learned from the Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk.
The conference will be held at the Marc Chagall Art Center and the Museum of the Vitebsk People’s Art School History. Attending the event will be 15 researchers from Belarus, Russia, the Netherlands, the United States of America and the United Kingdom. The program of the conference will include five thematic clusters: The Rise of Vitebsk People's Art School; National and Local Setting; Chagall-Lissitzky-Malevich; UNOVIS; Legacy. The conference’s curators are Claire Le Foll (Southampton, the United Kingdom) and Aleksandr Lisov (Vitebsk).
The international conference "Vitebsk People’s Art School and Its Legacy (1918-1922)" is organized by the University of Southampton and Masherov Vitebsk State University. It will be held with the support of the Centre D’etudes Franco-Russe (Moscow), the French Embassy, the British Embassy, the German Embassy and the US embassy in Belarus and the Vitebsk Jewish Community.
